Well, up early on Sunday Morning and after a hearty breakfast headed over to Dad's for some much anticipated gardening. After weeding and rototilling the Tomatoes, Master Gardener Dad and willing Student Mary Beth were plotting out which crops to plant next now the the Radishes were done. I moved on to picking the first of the seasons' Green Beans. Sure the work was hard and hot, sweat dripping off my brow, dirt on my knees and under my fingernails...but oh so fulfilling and satisfying. Later that evening as the sun was setting, I took that first sip of my refreshing Martini...shaken not stirred... reflecting back on the work of the day, I couldn't help feeling that my Mom was looking down and thinking...' ALRIGHT...WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH JEFF!?' '...to be continued...(check out the garden photos on our Barking Dog Cafe Facebook page)

"This Week's Special Fare"

Soups
Spring Pea Soup, our spin on the cold weather favorite (you know, Mary Beth's recipe, Jeff preparing it, the perfect recipe for disaster (success?)). Fresh Spring Peas, organic Spinach and just a touch of homemade Chicken Stock pureed smooth, served garnished with crisp Prosciutto and fresh chives.

And as always, we have our award-winning Tucker's Nantucket Clam Chowder (Jeff's recipe, Jeff preparing it...enough said)

Daily Specials
With the approaching of the Fourth of July this week, what could be more American than a good old-fashioned "thin & crispy on the edges" Burger. Our Single Cheese Burger with everything, Special Sauce, shredded Lettuce, thinly sliced Onions, Ketchup, Mustard and Pickles. Go for it and make it a Double...heck get crazy and make it a Triple...it's never been done!

And as always, we're featuring our "Bark Lard" BLT as did Food Network's "Triple D"! Thick slices of our own in-house cured Bacon, fresh Lettuce and Jeff's homemade Tomato Jam. All sandwiches are served with your choice of MB's Cole Slaw or Chips and Overnight Pickles.

And lastly and certainly not least, Mary Beth's "Life's a Beach", features Goat Cheese, Red Onion, Tomato Jam, Avocado, Sprouts and Cucumber, served on buttered and toasted Multi-Grain Bread. Or if you prefer, for a little extra, add a couple slices of "Bark Lard".

Entree Salads
Staying with our classics this week. Mary Beth's Salad, our featured House Salad starts with organic Field Greens topped with fresh Oranges, Apples, dried Cranberries, Red Onion, spicy sweet Pecans and a dusting of Blue Cheese. A homemade Raspberry Vinaigrette and toasted Baguette are served on the side.

And we also continue with our Barking Dog's "Tee Pee" Salad. That iconic Tee Pee Dressing, homemade of course, tossed with Iceberg Lettuce and topped with roasted julienned Beets and homemade Croutons served in wooden bowls...a true classic!
